By definition a Harbinger is one that pioneers in or initiates a major change or one that presages or foreshadows what is to come. Our Harbinger of Hope Campaign is designed to do just that: initiate and pioneer change that will bring hope to those who are in need.
This campaign seeks to raise funds to help CCC expand its services and reach to those in need by rehabilitating the Pillwillop Therapeutic Farm buildings and grounds where we are increasing the number of clinicians and expanding the scope of our current services.
When CCC incorporated in 2005 we knew there was a need for our services but no one could have anticipated the demand we have faced. Without advertising or even having our number in the phone book, we have been operating at full capacity and unfortunately turning away potential clients due to a lack of space and a lack of staffing necessary to aid those who contact us searching for help. In order for us to meet the demands we purchased Pillwillop and have begun the rehabilitation process.
CCC is a 501(c)3 not for profit. All donations are tax deductible and enable free services to be offered to the community. Donate today.
What the Campaign is adding
A 2nd facility to enable increased services and support to the community. We love our current location and plan to continue to offer services at our Muir Avenue site for years to come but as good as the site is it is very limited in terms of expansion of space and services. Zoning issues currently limit the hours of operation and the amount of staffing that we can employ. These limitations have prevented CCC from adding much needed additional clinical staff. It also has prevented us from offering group programming or presentations due to limited parking and "permitted use" restrictions. Our new site is much larger and allows for ample parking, additional staffing and programs that will allow CCC to expand services and reach those who currently are having difficulty finding the services they need most. We know that our clients love our current setting and our proposed new 2nd location will capture the feel of our original site; it will still feel "homey;" after all it has been a working family farm since the 1860's.
Expanded individual, couples & family sessions. Additional clinical staffing will allow for increased services- our goal by the end of this campaign is to increase current services by six times our current level. This increase will enable CCC to answer the demand for services in this area without sacrificing quality. Each clinician will be hand selected and trained by Doc Warren to ensure that our current vision and methods remain intact.
New group therapy programs. Whereas we only offer limited group services in our current location due to space and parking issues, there is a demand for group services in this area. Clients have indicated a desire for such groups and pilot group programming offered over the summer of 2008 proved successful and well attended. Our new space will have at least two group areas that will allow for comprehensive services. All group members will be able to continue with individual counseling services as well, so that gains can be maximized for every client. All clients will be pre screened for appropriateness to the group prior to placement.
Case management services. Counseling is fundamental to our clients but so too is the ability to have assistance with handling some of their other complex issues. CCC hopes to add additional case management services so that we may know that our clients other needs such as medical, financial, housing and legal issues are being addressed. This will only be possible through the success of this campaign.
Free informational/ educational workshops for the community Part of CCC's original programming, community educational and informational workshops have been extremely limited due to lack of space at the Muir Avenue site and lack of access to appropriate space in the community. Our new location will allow for Doc Warren, staff and guest dignitaries to provide workshops to the community. Most workshops will be offered for free, though some may have a small fee (to help offset the cost of guest dignitaries).
Mental health seminars for clinical professionals. Part of CCC's original programming, mental health seminars have been extremely limited due to lack of space at the Muir Avenue site and lack of access to appropriate space in the community. Our new location will allow for Doc Warren, staff and guest dignitaries to provide workshops and trainings that will allow for Continuing Education Units (CEU's are required for licensure) to be granted to participants. This will increase the amount of training opportunities to professionals in the state, while also allowing a venue where CCC and Doc Warren can promote our model to others in hopes that they will adapt some of our concepts in their practices.
Increased staffing. CCC hopes to add both support and clinical staff as part of this campaign. This will make additional programs and services possible, so that we can offer assistance to those currently in need of but unable to receive services in the community.
A community garden where people can enjoy nature. The new location will offer a chance for people to have hands on training in gardening and related activities. For a modest fee people will be able to farm a small plot of land, work with the community and enjoy their crops.
Art & nature based programs. Guest speakers, artists and naturists will be invited to offer programming through CCC to help educate and expose our clients to art and nature. If possible an area of the new location will be dedicated art space where hands on experiences can occur. Our current program of displaying local artists work will continue as well.
Publication of materials for clients and the community. Currently in its "beta" form, the Community Counseling review, our online source for peer reviewed articles and information will continue and expand. We plan to add downloadable handouts and brochures as well as pre printed publications free to our clients. other clinical programs will be offered low cost bulk rates for publications so that they may be offered to those they serve as well.
Hope to those who are currently lost in "the system"
With the current economic climate which is costing the US countless jobs, the reduction of benefits for those still employed as well as increased restrictions by managed care programs, more and more individuals as going without the care they need so dearly. This campaign will allow for the expansion of our STS programming, which will mean that more individuals who donate time to the community will have access to reduced or free services from our office.
Passive recreation The new proposed location will provide prime wooded land with established hiking trails, picnic areas and other passive recreation experiences to the community. Passive recreation includes walks, nature viewing, hikes, picnics etc. in a natural surrounding. This area will also be used as a site for some outdoor workshops.
Expanded Reading for Recovery Programming With the additional location and expanded space the Reading for Recovery program will have a dedicated room with built in floor to ceiling book shelves which will hold more books than have been possible in the past. Books will still be offered as loans or gifts, just as the program has done since its inception in the mid 1990's.
The Cost of the Campaign
The Harbinger of Hope Campaign is designed to be a onetime campaign that will enable Doc Warren and CCC to implement and sustain these programs without the need for continual support campaigns. Our goal is to reach 5 million dollars in support. These funds will pay for a new location, remodeling, maintenance and additional staffing for new programming. The remaining funds will be placed in our endowment fund to offset future expenses. As a 501(c)3 not for profit. All donations are tax deductible
